Supplement to the Multiplayer Manual ==================================== Operation of the features of OS-version 4.30: Assignment of audio files to song programs ------------------------------------------ The song patches now can not only be MIDI songs or jobs, but also audio songs. It is possible to simply assign audio files in WAV, AIFF or MP3 format (MP3 only with optional decoder card!), just like MIDI files, to the desired song numbers. Thus, if a song only consists of pure audio data, it is no longer needed to create a MIDI File, just for triggering the audio file by a MIDI note event, and to assign the audio file within an extra "WVx"-bank. In order to load an audio file onto a song program place, proceed like for MIDI files: - select desired song program. - DRIVE/LOA - search and open the folder, which contains the audio file. The device first displays MIDI files only (*.MID). In order to see all files in that folder, press key (0). Now all file types (*.*) will be displayed. Now you can search for the desired audio file and press ENTER to load it. Notes: In order to use audio playback, there must be some memory reserved for beeing used by waveplayer (double-click SEQ -> WVM). Because the player just loads a small part of the whole audio file into it's memory for playback, it is not possible to save such a file from memory to a disk by using the DRIVE/SAV function. Please use DRIVE/COP function. An audio file can only be played from the beginning to the end (no pause). All PERF functions (cue points, loop, change tempo...) do not work here. Triggering MP3 files by MIDI Notes ---------------------------------- (available only if player is equipped with MP3 decoder card) The MP3 files can be triggered by MIDI Notes in the same way as WAV or AIFF files. Just assign the MP3 file to the desired note number within a wave bank (WVA..WVH). See Multiplayer manual for details. Please note: Due to the latency time of the MP3 decoder is longer than of uncompressed audio (WAV, AIFF), there is a short delay between the trigger note and the start of playback. Thus, the trigger notes in a song for MP3 files must be positioned a little bit earlier than for WAV or AIFF files. Depending on the used MP3 encoder software and bitrate, this delay is about 100 ms. Please avoid triggering a second MP3 file, while the previously triggered MP3 file is still playing. This might cause audible glitches and further delay of the second file.
